FAQs - booking France flights

Yes, there are a good number of airlines that are offering direct flights from SFO to France. You can also get connecting flights on this route with KLM and Aer Lingus. Some of the popular layover destinations here are Dublin and Amsterdam.

  • Which airlines have a lounge at SFO?

There are nine lounges at SFO, seven of which are airline affiliated. There is the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and Air France-KLM Lounge, which are in the International Terminal, the American Airlines Admirals Club in Terminal 1, and Delta Sky Club in Terminal 2. United Airlines have three lounges; two in Terminal 3 and a third one in the International Terminal. All these lounges offer a wide range of amenities that you can enjoy as you wait to board your flight.

  • How do I get from CDG Airport to the city center?

There are multiple ways to go from CDG to Paris. If you want convenience, you can take a taxi from the taxi rank outside the arrivals terminal or hire a rental car from one of the rental companies operating at the airport. If you would rather prioritize your budget, public transport is a good option. There is the RER B train and Roissy bus, which operate a direct line from the airport to the city center.

  • Where can I exchange currency at CDG Airport?

To be able to transact easier while in France, you should exchange a few US Dollars for Euro at CDG Airport. Travelex Currency Exchange has multiple currency exchange sites at the airport but the most conveniently located ones for arriving travelers are located in the public area of the arrivals section and beyond passport control.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to France

  • Morning departure is around 6% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • When flying out of San Francisco, you will depart from San Francisco International Airport (SFO), which is one of the busiest airports on the west coast. For that reason, you should ensure you arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure to give you enough time to go through security and check-in.
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is the main international airport in France and the only one receiving direct flights from San Francisco. Therefore, if you want to travel directly, you will have to book a flight landing at CDG.
  • You don’t need a visa to fly to France from the US. However, you should still have a passport with at least six months of validity left and at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
  • To save on costs, consider booking connecting flights instead of a direct flight. More often than not, airlines will charge a higher price for the convenience of flying directly since direct flights have a higher demand compared to connecting flights on the same route.
  • Long-term parking is available at SFO Airport, and if you want to leave your car, you are advised to make a reservation beforehand. This way, you will not have a hard time trying to look for an ideal place to park.

Flew first class so everything was great. But maybe because the flights were red eye, no meals were served, just chips. I flew Alaska Air 1st class at 9PM (2 hour flight) and they served beef short rib sliders!

There was a loud squeaky sound the whole time we were flying.

I didn’t not like that I could not select my seat and ended up with the worse seat.

The landing was bad and the hostess came two times and i was sleeping but when she served the person that nexts to me I woke up and she didn’t even asked me if I need any drink or snacks two times!!!!

Plane was late because of a mechanical malfunction and the food listed as available was not. Flight attendants seem over worked and under paid. They just done seem happy. And that can be seen in their faces.

Waited 3 hours on a plane to de-ice due to manpower issues. Waited another hour and a half once we landed because of a gate issue. Missed my connections. Created. A total of 13 hours of delay.

Great, on time departure, friendly and accommodating crew, great leg room, Smith flight

Plane was turned around due to fog half way into the flight, Delta did not properly direct passengers to stay on same flight and instead failed to properly rebook on Alaska

Honestly, I didn’t expect that I will experience this long time wait during the check in. There was only one person who was taking care of the passengers for the economy class and it took us to wait about one hour to do our check i. As a result we barely get to the airplane as the gate was at the end of the airport. That is totally not professional where one crue is working at the registration desk with economy and 3-4 crues are helping for the business class.

Like most domestic flights in the US, you are basically on your own with this airline when it comes to food, so be sure to purchase meals and drinks ahead of time or expect to arrive starving and dehydrated (like I was).

My only issue was my meal was inedible except for the sides.

Old cabine without flat bed in business for a 12 hour flight is not acceptable

Generally good. The crew is excellent. The food could be better.

Did not find the wheelchair that supposed to assist and went to a long queue for transit security chk which was very slow and boarding desk wanted to close counter although that they knew that I am minutes away because of their mistake of not providing the wheelchair.

Boarding was smooth and on time. The seat was comfortable and the entertainment worked. Staff were gracious.

Business class in the second leg - CDG-EVN was a disaster.

I have used Air France and KLM many times it will help if they change their menu's feel like it's been the same for years!!!, Especially the breakfast. Overall the flight was good and enjoyable.

No birding was given for next trip on same carrier, food was very moderate.

We transited through Chad and what was supposed to be a 1hr 20 minutes transit time lasted over 4hrs. We didn't get regular updates until we complained. After a 10hr flight from Paris no form of refreshment given and finally arrived Abuja over 6hrs later and none of my bags came

The line at boarding was not well organized and managed

Aisle chair was good and liked the foot bar preventing you from putting your foot in the isle, The breakfast on this international flight to Zurich was horrible (Europeans, specially, used to good food) may make this a dealbreaker for booking with United Airlines again. I agreed with my Spanish fellow passenger.

On time take off…US cabins look tired and need of refresh!

Backpack should NOT allowed put in the flight bin , only put it under the seat. I can't find space put my carry on luggage!!! and I pay for it ! that was very bad experience

Hated every minute of it. This flight should have only taken 1.5hrs but was delayed over 10hours. Now I am being told I cannot be compensated or refunded my ticket price or extra leg room, which I purchased but did not receive, because the airline is throwing the blame on the 3rd party I purchased tickets through and 3rd party putting the blame on airline. No one wants to help. They received their money and that's all they care about. Im going on 3 days of still trying to get to my final destination, had to cancel car rental, car insurance and hotel. Currently staying in airport until hotels open up. Thank you Lufthansa, Kayak, Underpricer and United for making this trip the worst ever.

Crew was great and did their best to make us comfortable and captain came out at the beginning to announce why the flight was delayed, weather situation up ahead, and kept us updated throughout the flight.

United WiFi is consistently unusable (it can take 10 mins to load a single web page). If you need Wifi to do work, be prepared to lose half a day of productivity.

Awful. I got stuck next to a person carrying a dog and behind someone with a dog. People need to board these dogs downstairs. The cabin is crowded enough with your pets

Packed in like sardines, very uncomfortable. Sitting the aisle my shoulder was rammed into numerous times by rushing flight attendants. Also flight was very cold.

Beverage and food services are excellent. We enjoy paying the extra for economy plus for the 3 inches more leg room to be exact.

Flight was delayed by 3 hours. The pilot made up 1 hour during the flight, but that made the wait at the airport 5 hours once you factor getting there 2 hours early.

Staff didn’t care in business class. Closed the door on my mom while she was on the jetbridge and flight attendant told me she would make it from the connecting flight. They lied. My luggage was damaged on arrival. No success in filing damage claim.

Overall, the flight was comfortable without any serious issues. Transit through Frankfurt airport was a little confusing, but not too difficult if you follow the signs

Staff disappeared after dinner service until breakfast, no help with beds, no help running to our gate to catch connection cause flight was late, our luggage didn’t make it, took over 24 hours to get luggage to hotel, no compensation!!

Second time I took this flight, and they lost my luggage both times. Waiting for my suitcase now, last time it took two days to get it back.

Checked in is easy and it was a smooth flight from LAX to Munich

It was a busy flight and all the crew were very helpful and gracious

I wish the flight attendant was a little bit kinder

I always try to book flights that don’t charge for baggage. Yet I was charged $75 for this flight.

Used to love Lufthansa, but Rowe are too close together in Economy and passengers are allowed to recline their seats so far back it is impossible for those behind them to even reach for carry-on essentials during flight - except for meal service when flight attendants ask for seat backs to be raised, we can’t sleep on planes so this flight was most uncomfortable ever! Rod Rose

Horrible crowding on the seats, headphones provided did not fit or work in the entertainment center, seriously the most uncomfortable flight I have taken in a LONG time. The people in front of me were literally 5 inches from my face the entire flight. Did they change their seats recently? I remember it being tight but wow this was a whole new level. Also I am a 5'3" small woman so I can't even imagine a larger person dealing with that for 11 hrs.

Flight attendants and checking great .. comfort was the worst I’ve experienced, design of seat was poor , headrest uncomfortable, seat in front when extended crushed me and the temp was hot .. every minute felt like an hour .. and it was a 7 hr flight

The company lost my luggage on a direct flight from LAX to ORLY. We have tried to call them daily but they do not have a human customer service agent. We submitted upon arrival and online but again, no response. We easily have items that add up to $2000 and under the Montreal Convention they should be held responsible for compensation. But again, no response and I’m going to get legal representation if we do not hear back within 21 days of the flight and lost baggage.

everything is an extra cost on this flight, you need to pay to have a your children sit next to you (they won’t change the seat for your kids to sit next to you without charging you), food is an extra you need to pay for on a 12 hour flight, no drinks or snacks throughout the flight, the media selection is subpar and your phone has more options

Many families including ours we seated separately. For kids entertainment only 2 cartoons for 11 hour flight. Checked bag $100 each. Everything else was fine

The boarding process was completely disorganized, adding avoidable stress, and the airline's business model is tight spaces, but seats that recline more to make sleep easier in economy. The passenger behind us did not understand that and shook our chair saying we're reclining too much. We immediately brought the flight attendants in to mediate and deescalate the situation, and they didn't. The passenger behind us kept harassing my wife throughout the 8 hour flight. They should be better trained in this regard if this is the airline's business model and promise to passengers like us who review leg space and reclining angles before purchasing a fare on the airline.

The orthopedic sits, no room to move, no reclining, was horrible and because that I'm still in pain and aches in my whole body

Seats were uncomfortable. Lower back support would be nice. It was the usual for an airplane. Other than that, everything was wonderful. Even my kids said the food was good! Nice to get a blanket and set of earbuds.

Flight got canceled, took us 3 hrs in line to give us vouchers for hotel and meals, which was chaotic and then went to hotel and the voucher did not work at hotel, had to pay and apply for reimbursement and waiting for payment

Better than expected from a low cost airline! The food, seat and overall experience was great! I would fly with them again.

We were there on time we checked in early online and when we got to the airport we only had one code ticket and not the other one, the people at the desk didn’t want to print the other ticket since we didn’t have it on the phone
